MAKING AN APPOINTMENT (before making an appointment check out the minor illness section)
Each morning from 8:00 appointments for that day become available for booking. Every Friday from 10:30 pre-bookable appointments become available for the following week.
Appointments can be booked on-line, by telephone 02920 792661 or in person at the reception desk.
Text reminders are sent 2 days prior to appointments, please ensure we have your correct contact details.
As I am sure you will appreciate this is a busy time to call, and you can expect to have to hold to speak to a receptionist.
In the interest of everybody please keep the call short.
Avoid ringing first thing for other requests such as test results.
Routine and emergency appointments with the doctor are of 10 minutes duration.
If you have multiple problems you may be asked to rebook to cover them all.
REQUESTING A HOME VISIT
Home visits are only for housebound patients at the discretion of the GP. If you are able to be brought to surgery but require a flexible appointment to fascilitate this please let the receptionist know.
To request call between 8.30 and 10.00am daily, if you call later you may be asked to ring back the next day.
The receptionist will ask for an idea of your problem - this information helps the doctors plan their home visits.
If there is any degree of urgency please make this clear.
It is in everyone’s interest for you to come to the surgery if able:
Your co-operation in coming to the surgery is much appreciated and benefits yourself and other patients.
If you have a problem that can be dealt with over the telephone, request a call back from a doctor.
Also, to improve efficiency, you may be asked to follow-up some problems/results over the telephone.
UNABLE TO ATTEND?
Every week many patients book appointments and then do not attend.
If you have booked an appointment, but it is no longer needed please call.
We can then offer this appointment to someone else.
TEACHING AND TRAINING
Sometimes we also have medical students with us as part of their training course, but you will always be asked beforehand for your permission if a student is to be present.
